Hello there, and welcome to Too Wild For Comfort!

TWFC is another of those little corners of the World Wide Web, meant to discuss the Iowa Wild. Whether you’re one of the regulars down at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, a Minnesota fan just wanting to see how the prospects are doing, or you’re a fan from wherever around this little blue marble we call Earth.

Even though I aspire to be a professional journalist one day, this blog will be more from the point of view of a common fan.

Some posts might get a bit smart and technical, and others might get a bit dumb and sarcastic.

The blog will also attempt to discuss the Heartlanders, the USHL, and the Iowa/Iowa State club programs. Heck, some posts might not even be about hockey at all!

Whatever is posted and whoever posts it(Though there is a 99.998% chance that I will be the only one writing on this blog), TWFC will always hope to be a source of information for the Iowa Wild.

That should be about it for now. Updates to the website will be performed a lot before the season, so just keep that in mind.

3 Things Noticed On A Frustrating Opening Weekend

  Iowa played their first two games of the season under new head coach Brett McLean this past weekend, but all the pre-season hype would be spoiled in suffering a sweep by the Henderson Silver Knights. There was a lot to observe, and I wanted to write a full recap, but when I started writing, it looked rather boring. Instead, let’s talk about a couple of things I noticed while in attendance for these two games. 1: Special Teams Issues Iowa went a combined 0-for-6 on the power play this weekend, and whenever they were on the ice for the power play, it looked disorganized. The Wild were very conservative with shooting, resulting in constant back-and-forth passing. One flaw noticed was that multiple times in both games, they would pass to the slot, even if nobody was there to pick it up. This allowed Henderson to create some easy turnovers.
